The Tractive GPS tracker for dogs is the perfect accessory for all dog pawrents. The Tractive team asked us to try out the GPS tracker and share our experiences. I’m a huge advocate of using technology to be a better dog mom and couldn’t wait to explore all that Tractive had to offer to our life. (Please be aware that this content must be highlighted as an Ad as the Tractive GPS Tracker and a subscription to the app was gifted for the purpose of review. What is Tractive?
Tractive is a small GPS tracker that is available for dogs and cats and is attached to your pets collar. The purpose of the tracker is to allow you the security of being able to track you pet at anytime that they are wearing the tracker on your smartphone. This feature really appeals to me. As most who follow my blog and Instagram account know, Monty is an ex-stray and although I am vigilant at keeping him on a lead at all times, I always have that nagging anxiety that something may happen. Do you get that too?
First impressions
Tractive comes perfectly packaged with everything you need to get started. The GPS tracker, printed instructions and usb charging cable are included as well as a clip to attach the device to your pet’s collar. I was shocked at how small and light Tractive is, even small dogs won’t really notice it.
To get started I put it on to charge and downloaded the two apps that will convert the GPS information into a whole range of useful insights to inform the health and wellbeing decisions for your dogs
The tracker is waterproof and robust making it a great choice for dogs and parents that enjoy hiking and more adventurous days out too. A charge will last five days too, so brilliant for weekends away.
The Tractive apps
Access to the apps is subscription based with packages starting at £3.00 per month. The first app you use with the GPS Tracker is Tractive GPS for Dogs and Cats. This app is subscription based with packages starting at £3.00 per month. The features you can access include live tracking of your dog in over 150 countries worldwide and the ability to create a geofence so that you’re alerted if your pup crosses a virtual fence that you can create. Monty’s fence is set to the garden and sure enough the he went through the hedge to show the builders next door his bone, I was instantly alerted. I was only a few feet away but all it take is a moment for these things to happen
The Tractive Dog Walk app is my favourite app for day to day use. Like human health trackers, the app helps me to track Monty’s walk distance and time, identifies his favourite pee spots and lets me know how much of is day is spent active and resting.
Monty is an older boy at fast approaching ten years old and he has certainly slowed down in the past 12 months. The main issue is some arthritis in his left leg that does cause him pain. Tractive has allowed us to use exact information to inform which routes and distances are best to manage his pain.

Is Tractive for me?
If you travel, hike or enjoy long walks with your dog. If having peace of mind that your dog is safe and secure is important to you. Or, maybe you are managing a health concern or working on your dogs wellbeing, weight or fitness then Tractive is for you.
Monty’s walks are so important and being able to ensure we achieve the most walkies for his condition has been life changing for him. I will continue to subscribe to the apps once the gifted period is over and love knowing he is safe and sound at all times. Knowing he’s getting a full nine and half hours sleep each night also fills me with so much love!
It’s been a pleasure to share our Tractive journey with you!
Love,
