I love a good food shop. Picking out my favourite meals and snacks, and taking them home to be enjoyed is one of life’s essential pleasures. Last week, Marks and Spencer opened a brand new food hall in Blackpole, Worcester and invited me along to enjoy my weekly shop.
The new Blackpole store opened at 10am on the 27th of February and hundreds of local shoppers arrived for the event. The buzz was palpable! The first 200 visitors were gifted a golden ticket and Colin the Caterpillar was on hand to entertain the crowds. (Mainly me, I found Colin insanely adorable.)
Cutting the ribbon
As opening time arrived, the ribbon was rolled out and was cut to cheers from the crowds and the doors opened.
The store was so busy, filled to the brim with keen shoppers, and the atmosphere was celebratory. Staff were on hand with chocolate biscuits and expertly guided customers to their favourite products.
The Blackpole store boasts an in-store bakery, a beautiful flower selection and a very handy Click & Collect facility. So handy to be able to order my skincare to be delivered when I pick up my food shop.
My Spring Favourites
Those that follow me on Instagram will know that I’ve currently overhauled my diet. I’m calorie counting, enjoying more fresh food, and I’ve given up meat. I’m really enjoying my new lifestyle and so many of the ranges and products at M&S help me to eat well with a very busy lifestyle. Everything I’m sharing with you are foods I eat most weeks – well, except for pancakes – but we all need treats!
The Freshest of Breakfasts
I don’t think I could start my day any other way. Greek yoghurt, berries and granola is my ideal morning fuel. I find that M&S berries are always so plump, juicy and incredibly fresh. After visiting one of their farms in the Summer, I’ve become evangelical about the delights of M&S fruit. I find their yoghurt the creamiest available too!
Fast and Delicious Plant Food
My weeknights get hectic. You know what it’s like and sometimes I want delicious, hot and nutritious. Quite a big ask, especially when you don’t eat meat. I adore the Plant Food range. I don’t think you understand – I LOVE it! I’ve tried most of the products and regularly enjoy the dishes. They’re so flavourful and ‘meaty’ but without the guilt or environmental impact of meat-based meals! Even better, all the products are suitable for vegans too!
The Spaghetti Bolognese is so good. The sauce is rich and dense, stuffed with yummy soy mince and mushrooms. I love to serve it with a side salad and as it takes just a few minutes to cook perfectly in the microwave – it’s my go-to for long days in need of a good meal.
A meal I eat at least a couple of times a week is the Plant Food No Chick’n Chunks with roasted vegetables and broccoli cous cous. You may have guessed by how much I eat this dish, but I can’t get enough of it. The ‘meaty chunks’ are so tasty, I pan fry them in garlic and chilli and serve with roasted veg and broccoli and finish with a generous sprinkle of parmesan. It’s such a nutritious, filling meal and I have to know I have the ingredients to rustle it up at a moments notice.
Pancake day is a special day in my heart. I adore pancakes more than any woman should. I love them served with fresh lemon and sugar and I don’t think there’s a limit to how many I could eat – seriously, I don’t think I have a cut off point when it comes to pancakes.
I’m always keen to make my own and usually do, but It’s hard to calorie count homemade pancakes and also – they’re messy! Marks and Spencer offer a range of pancakes and this year I tried the plain pancakes to celebrate Shrove Tuesday. I warmed them in the oven and finished with freshly squeezed lemon and sugar. All the yummy flavour, all the pancake goodness – but none of the mess. I highly recommend these beauties! So tasty and so easy.
I hope you enjoyed checking out my Spring food haul from Marks and Spencer, Blackpole and do let me know if you try any of the plant food or pancake day ranges. I always love to talk food. Yum!
