There’s no time like lockdown to return to my more traditional blog feature. May 2020 started with a mini summer-like heatwave and ended with the same sunshine fulfilled days.
It certainly has been a new phase in lockdown living. I make it no secret that my ridiculously introverted, home-body brain quite enjoys being advised to stay home all the time. With that said, it doesn’t stop the worry we all feel for our missed loved-ones. One of my more positive habits has been to start writing down my daily gratitudes and it is so eye opening to focus on all that we have! I’ve not been too keen on my biscuit intake but I’ve never lived through a pandemic before so I think biccies are a valid survival technique, right?
May 2020: All the Garden all the time.
Every single year I am obsessed with the garden and invest every spare minute into making it the cottage garden oasis I long it to be in. However, I normally have very little time at home so lockdown has meant the garden has had a lot of tlc. I worked tirelessly cutting back hedges, slowly trying to re-seed areas of lawn and getting it in shape. I added some new plants to my main flower bed and a belated David Austin birthday rose also made it’s home amongst the blooms. Do really have to stop buying roses?
The pressure washer enjoyed some quality time at my side and I worked on prettifying the top patio (This sounds misleadingly fancy) with a little help from a gorgeous gifted plant stand from Greenfingers. It is paired perfectly with the Loreto swing seat I purchased last year too! The stand arrived as bare wood and I finished it with two coats of Farrow and Ball’s Shaded White. I’m so excited to have a spot to display seasonal blooms!
Reading Time and a Little Blog Giveaway
I’ve loved rediscovering reading during lockdown. It’s not something I usually have the time, energy or headspace for. I got to partner with Wellbeck Publishing to review a copy of RHS’s The Rose by Brent Elliott. It was such a privilege to spend some lazy evenings on the swing seat engrossing myself in the history of the rose. Even better, I got to share the joy by giving away two copies over on my Instagram account. There will be another book giveaway in July so do keep your eyes peeled, I know you will love it!
Monty is a Wunderdog
Whilst I’ve also known that my beloved rescue pup is pretty spectacular, I love reading about dog rescues and the amazing pups and the souls that love them. That’s where Wunderdog magazine comes in. It’s the perfect read for pawrents everywhere and in May 2020, Monty was featured! It was a very exciting day when the latest issue landed on the doormat. Find out how to get your hands on Wunderdog over on their website
All in all, navigating through May 2020 in lockdown has been so much smoother than what so many are experiencing.I’m forever grateful! Stay safe and wash those hands!
