Silicone sonic brushes have so many benefits for your skin and without the need to replace heads, they’re also more environmentally friendly and much more affordable. Fancii & Co is a brand that I’ve been using for about a year and I wanted to share a review of the ‘Rhea’ sonic cleansing brush.
I purchased the Rhea from Amazon about about three months ago because I’d had a great experience with another of their products. So when it came time to order yet another brush head for my original cleansing brush (teamed with the discovery the company had been purchased by animal-testing giant, L’oreal.) I decided it was time for a change.
The Rhea Sonic Cleansing brush
The Rhea cleansing brush cost me £25 (about the same as a single brush head on my old system) and is a small, medical-grade silicone brush with two bristle sides. Rhea is suitable for all skin types and comprises of a fine silicone bristle area for general cleaning and a more nobbled side for oily areas.
The device is showerproof (yay) and has a variable intensity with a built in timer. I couldn’t wait to start.
Why Silicone
Silicone is the best choice if you have any kind of congestion or blemish issue, as it is resistant to bacteria – this is why you don’t need to replace the brush head. In fact, Rhea is 30 times more hygienic than a nylon brush.
It’s also less likely to cause reaction on sensitive skins as it’s hypoallergenic and is free of nasties like phthalates and BPA.
Fancii & Co really do specialise in high-quality beauty products and an affordable cost and that’s why I keep coming back to them.
Elevate your skincare routine
Whatever your skincare budget or preferred system the Rhea will super-charge your routine. I have used the brush with a gel cleanser, a balm and a wash – it works brilliantly with all. Your skincare will be more effective and your skin will glow in no time at all.
The benefits
So what are the benefits of silicone sonic cleansing? Let’s break it down:
-
Superior Cleansing for clearer skin
The sonic oscillations gently break down make-up, dirt and sebum, literally vibrating impurities out of your pores. Simultaneously, the brush gently lifts away dead skin cells to reveal clean, polished skin.
-
Powerful benefits of massage
You know how amazing your skin feels and looks after a good massage? The benefits of using sonic massage twice daily boosts blood circulation. Your skin will look more even in tone and plumped up, improving the absorption and effectiveness of your favourite skin care as will be absorbed deeper into your skin.
-
Anti-aging
All that massage and gentle exfoliation is going to have a four pronged attack on the effect go ageing.
- Wrinkles and fine lines will appear reduced.
By gently exfoliating the skin (I pay particular attention to my frown lines and crows feet areas) you will remove the dead skin cells that make your lines and wrinkles look worse than they actually are.
2. Plumping and firming
The sonic massage floods your skin with circulation, by paying particular attention to areas like the chin, jaw and labial folds, your skin will look and feel plumped and firm.
3. A boost of collagen
With 2,000+ touchpoints and over 5,000 sonic pulsations per minute, collagen production is boosted to help create a more youthful appearance to the face.
4. Reduced pores
The gentle silicone pads help remove the impurities from your skin and then firms the skin, gradually improving large pores, resulting in a smoother, more even skin tone
How to use
Rhea has five intensities and because my skin is not very reactive and pretty hardy, I use it on the highest setting, twice daily. If you’re new to sonic cleansing I would gradually increase the intensity and frequency to find what works for you.
I massage my gel-oil cleanser on to my face and work the product around my eyes to remove my eye-make up. I then start with the larger side of the brush and begin to work in small circles in my oily and congested areas.
Then flipping over to the other side I use firm, upwards stokes, starting at my forehead and working around my face and jaw to cleanse and firm my face. I do take a few extra seconds to work on the areas beginning to show the signs of wrinkles and fine lines with the firmer side. You might see you skin become a little flushes as blood floods the skin – I love that – it really adds a radiance to my post-cleansed skin.
I then use a mulling cloth just to remove the cleanser from my eyes and splash away the rest. A quick pat try and I’m ready for my skin care
How to care for Rhea
The brush comes with a USB charging wire and one charge will last you three months. (Amazing!) After I finished cleansing I rinse my brush head with warm water to remove any residue cleanser and grime. Twice a week I use a little antibacterial hand wash to give a deep clean as my cleanser is oil based. I pat the handle dry and pop her back on the bathroom shelf to air dry.
Want to know my thoughts?
I’m really pleased with the effects of Rhea, the brush is definitely much more gentle than my old system which has had a really positive effect on my oily t-zone. What has really impressed me is the firming and anti-aging benefits – I am really noticing an improvement and love the plumpest youthful glow. I’m firmly a Rhea girl now.
