The cold weather is really starting to move in, making it the perfect time to update your seasonal style. At the end of September. Following on from my summer style collaboration, I had the pleasure of being invited to the Marks and Spencer AW19 Womenswear press show and I can’t wait to share the top trends for the season ahead as well as my must-buy picks!
AW19 Womenswear
Everyday style is at the heart of the AW19 collection at Marks and Spencer. Stylish, well-made pieces that are easy-to-style, easy to care for and long lasting, lay the foundations for a contemporary wardrobe that elevates every-day wear.
Key Autumn/Winter Trends
Floral Prints
70s inspired floral prints are an easy-to-wear statement piece that takes multiple forms in the new collection; Midi-length dresses look incredible teamed with boots or trainers or if you’re just starting to incorporate petalled patterns into your wardrobe, this floral pussy-bow blouse looks amazing with denim!
Warm Tones
Toffee, ochre and mahogany are the must-have palette for AW19. Easy-to-wear and flattering, the M&S collection coat is a style-essential to inject on-trend colour into your look.
Textured Layers
Layers are emphasised through the clever use of texture. Teaming soft 90’s inspired satin skirts with oversized chunky knits create and effortlessly chic look for daytime.
On the Press Show Stage
There were several talks delivered throughout the show. The design team shared their highlights from the collection, discussing all the details that go into creating the garments from colours to fabrics. It was so inspiring to see how invested the team are in the collection and the sense of pride when they are able to deliver the hottest looks in the best fabrics at the right price. Hannah Martin shared her make-up trends for the festive period. (Glitter eyes are the way and I’m in need of some glittery purchases). Sustainable fashion was a key feature. I loved this, living more sustainably is essential for our future and buying high-quality garments that are versatile, long-lasting and easy to care for underpin M&S’s values. An interesting key message was that we over-wash our clothes and that is a welcome ethos in my life (I’m looking at the bulging laundry basket as I type.).
My AW19 Wish List
I’m not going to lie, it was embarrassingly difficult to condense my Wishlist to my top 3. It started out at 15, there are just so many looks that I want to rock this Autumn but if I had to just pick three, it would have to be:
- Aviator Jacket of Dreams – I want to be wrapped in this beauty so badly. Not only is it the most incredible shape – it’s also vegan and it does not get better then that!
- Western Boots – The western boot is firmly in and I want them all because they look amazing with jeans and dresses. If I can’t have them all, I’ll just have these. Look at the colour – just look!!
- Teal body bag – The shape, the handy compartment, the teal. No more words are needed.
I hope you’ve enjoyed my insight into the Autumn/Winter collection, do you have your eye on anything in the range?
Love,
