Laura Ashley has opened their flagship tea room at The Regency Hotel in Solihull. Beautifully designed with the finest heritage-inspired interiors that Laura Ashley has to offer, the tea room delivers the quintessential British afternoon tea experience. Laura Ashley The Tea Room is now open and I can’t wait to go again.
The Laura Ashley team invited me to join them for the launch event for a day of cake and picture taking. How could I say no?
Arrival at The Regency Hotel
All pristine white shutters and glistening chandeliers, the tea room is hard to miss. The entrance is marked by the most beautiful red door with matching sign, I couldn’t wait to get inside.
Laura Ashley The Tea Room
The tea room is just as beautiful inside. Sparkling mirrors, pristine Laura Ashley tableware and linen were perfectly set off by delicate yellow blooms that adorned each table. The entire room is set around the ‘tea bar’, formed from bevelled mirror, ladened cake stands and a wonderful range of Birchall tea.
The Vegetarian Afternoon Tea
I’m not completely vegetarian. (Insert guilty face.) I don’t eat much poultry or fish and have a complete veto on everything else. When I eat out I always pick a vegetarian meal and was delighted that the tea room offered a vegetarian option.
I enjoyed the English Breakfast Tea served with milk. The glass teapots are beautiful and delivered three cups of the freshest tea.
A chilled carrot and lemongrass veloute was served to start, it was incredibly fresh and smooth and left me ready for more. (I like my food.)
A lot of food arrived. A lot of food! It was like heaven. The vegetarian tea comprised of: a plain and a fruit scone with Devonshire clotted cream and local strawberry preserve. A selection of the softest finger sandwiches filled the next tier, to top it all off a selection of beautifully presented cakes, pastries and fruit sat waiting my attention
T he food was incredibly fresh and tasted wonderful. The brie and strawberry open sandwich and the gluten free brownie were out of this world!
Takeaway Tea Party
Did I mention there was a lot of food? Never fear, the tea room staff carefully box up your left over food for you to take away for later. I loved this touch. As someone who spends a lot of time thinking about food I could have eaten, this was made for me.
It was a wonderful afternoon and I absolutely have to return for more.
Anyone feel the need for cake after reading this?
