I don’t spend a lot of time at home these days. Between work, the demands of day-to-day and life and helping care for my Mum, my time at home is pretty thin. So when I am home, I really want to make sure that the time is restorative, enjoyable and at this time of year, cosy.
Since making over my living room last month, I’ve been really enjoying my evening time. Whether I’m working, blogging or binge-watching Netflix shows on my nights at home, spending time in the living room has become part of my weekly rituals that I need to get me through.
I don’t know about you, but I can’t just sit in a room, I have to ‘prep’ it to make the most of my time. Make sure it’s all perfect; plump the cushions, light the fire and fill the room with the cosy glow of candles. You do that too, right?
The perfect candle
I’m very particular about my candle choice, I insist on cruelty-free candles made from soy wax. Cotton wicks and phthalate free are also essential features for my candle must-have list. Luckily, I have a home filled with candles from Sandwick Bay. If you’re not familiar, Sandwick Bay Candles are hand blended and poured by creator Megan Macdonald in the beautiful Outer-Hebrides. You should see the pictures on her Instagram!! Megan’s candles look, feel and smell so luxurious and I always look forward to new product launches.
At the start of the year, Subscription Corner was launched. A range of exclusive candle scents delivered to your door each month – the perfect monthly subscription for fellow cosy-lovers. My first box arrived just as I was adding the finishing touches to the living room. I held off lighting until complete and the Wood Sage and Sea Salt candle quickly became part of my living room ritual. The candle smells wonderful, looks great and knowing my next candle was arriving meant that I was happy to indulge each evening.
Sure enough, a familiar sized box soon arrived at my door. The packaging for the Subscription Corner is beautiful. I think there’s something extra-special when a subscription feels like a luxury gift. As I lifted the lid I was delighted to discover a white tea themed box. As well as an exclusive White Tea scented candle, this box also included a sachet of Hoogly White Tea.
Restorative, cosy moments
I have to say, I loved this addition. I saved my first lighting to Saturday morning, waked Monty and got through the bits of housework I needed to do and then I brewed my white tea, lit my new candle and had half an hour of time just for me. It’s so rare these days and I love that Megan really thought about how we can make the most of the subscription.
The subscription that keeps on giving
Although my tea lasted for just one sitting, my candle is still going strong and the ritual of enjoying my nightly cosy candle time is definitely here to stay. Of all the many subscriptions that I’ve tried over the years, Subscription Corner is right up there as one of the most rewarding for me and my life. It really does add a touch of luxury to each day.
If you would like to find out more about Subscription corner, you can find all the cosy details on the Sandwich Bay Candles website.
