Cosy Club Worcester’s summer menu has launched. Picture sunshine-infused cocktails and dishes inspired by the holiday-destinations of your dreams all served in a gorgeously eclectic setting overlooking Worcester Cathedral. The wonderful team at Cosy Club invited me along to sample their tastes of summer and I can’t wait to share my cosy experience with you.
A Cosy Welcome
Cosy Club is set in the heart of Worcester, nestled perfectly into Cathedral Square and boasting ample parking and a spacious terrace that overlooks the breathtaking Worcester Cathedral. Mr SV and I headed hungrily inside and were met with the smiliest, most friendly greeting from the team.
Cosy Club Worcester is the only restaurant in the small chain that is housed in a contemporary building and the juxtaposition of industrial-chic accents with 1930s luxe and vintage furniture is just beautiful. We arrived for an evening slot and the glow of the candlelight and Art Deco ambient lighting made for a wonderfully relaxing evening.
A Summer Menu for Everyone
As we were seated we were presented with three separate menus; a standard menu, a vegan collection and a gluten-free option. I loved this, I often choose vegetarian or vegan options and there’s usually one dish for each course that’s open to me. To be presented with a whole menu of summery vegan dishes was utterly joy inducing. Cosy Club Worcester absolutely scored points with this!
I really wanted to explore everything that the summer menu had to offer, so we really did spend a while with the menus. Our waitress served us our drinks along with a platter of warmed bread with freshly poured olive oil and balsamic vinegar as we browsed. The bread was really fresh and was a much larger portion than similar dishes that I’ve experienced at other restaurants.
What really impressed me was the knowledge and passion of the team. We were asked if we would like to discuss the menu or whether we would like any recommendations. Our server spoke with passion about the dishes available, sharing her own personal favourites as well as popular dishes and feedback from other customers too.
Tapas for Two
I love tapas. I love tapas because I’m a flavour addict, I want all the flavour I can get on every fork-full and Cosy Club’s tapas really delivered. We chose three dishes to share. The Halloumi Sticks with chipotle cilli jam were a must-order as the two members of staff we met both raved about them. To go with, we ordered the Mediterranean Plate and the Garlic Mushrooms on Sourdough Toast.
‘Fresh and delicious’ encapsulates every single course we ate at Cosy Club and the tapas was truly wonderful. Its so important to point out that when I picture meals from chain restaurants, I think of naughty freezer food. This was absolutely not the case at Cosy Club. Every thing is freshly made in the kitchens and it shows.
I eat a lot of halloumi and I know how easy it is to overcook it. The sticks were so fresh, cooked perfectly to a soft and almost melting texture with a deliciously crisp coating. The Mediterranean plate provided a taste and texture explosion, with crunchy pickled cabbage, and zingy pomegranate teamed with mellow hummus.
Nothing says summer like mocktails and Cosy Club’s array of freshly shaken, stirred and blended delights were a much needed dose of summer on a hot July evening. Mr SV was swayed with the Pink Lemonade, a fruity blend of pomegranate, strawberry and ginger ale mixed with lemonade. I chose the Passionfruit Mojito, which was divine! I loved the mix of lime, passionfruit and brown sugar with a fresh burst of mint. I think this is the drink of Summer 2018.
The Cosy Club main event
The Cosy Club menu is varied and choosing wasn’t easy. I opted for the Buttermilk Fried Chicken with chipotle mayo, house slaw and chunky fries. Mr SV pulled out all the stops with The Major General burger with house slaw and a salad. (He was trying to be good – ha!)
The buttermilk chicken was so juicy and tender, with a crisp panko coating that just yearned for a slathering of chipotle mayo and creamy slaw. I loved the house slaw, the vegetables were really fresh and crisp, but very finely sliced and dressed perfectly. Mr SV’s burger was epic, featuring a macaroni cheese fritter, smoked bacon and so many more flavour sensations, my date for the evening described his plate as ‘the ultimate burger’.
There’s always room for pudding
I’m the type of girl that lies in bed at night regretting the puddings I didn’t eat. So, although we were beyond stuffed with deliciousness, it seemed so wrong to miss out on a sweet treat to end the evening. In our nine years together, the one thing that Mr SV and I have always done really well is our ability to share a sundae. And so, we chose a delicious and appropriately named Cosy Sundae with two spoons.
The Cosy Sundae
Such a luxurious pudding! The creamiest ice-cream paired with the most fudge brownie pieces with a ganache style drizzle and finished with naught boozy cherries was served to our table. It was incredible and even though we were so very full, we scraped every drop of deliciousness from the sundae dish. The Cosy Sundae was the perfect end to a wonderfully cosy evening.
