So, I know it’s been a blink of an eye since I shared my September, but I’m determined to share these posts within a few days of a new month, not half way through the month. (oops!) So, I went with a bumper two-month round up. I proudly give myself a smug pat on the back for kind-of sticking to my plan. If I’m honest, it’s a little bit of a cheat as October 2018 was pretty quiet as I spent a few weeks recovering from my op and November flew by. So, let me tell you what I’ve been up to.
October was the month of my op. It was a relatively short procedure but it did knock me out of action for much longer than I anticipated. Still, I managed to share my a recipe post for my Mum’s Sweet Leek and Potato Soup. I have to say, it’s been so lovely having bowlfuls stashed away in the freezer for those moments when ultimate comfort is needed. Definitely check that post out as it make for a wonderful Christmas Day starter or a more simple dish for when the decadence of the festive period all becomes too much.
Not much else happened in October. Halloween flew by without so much as a single carved pumpkin. Don’t you hate when things get too busy to make the most of the season?
As October was a wash-out and bonfire night is a no-go as we spend each night trying to reassure poor Monty whilst he shakes and hides. As much as I love a good sparkler and a veggie hot-dog, seeing Monty so upset makes me thing about all the other pets and wildlife that suffer during this time, so I’ve become horribly anti-bonfire night/fireworks.
I was determined to ensure that the next holiday didn’t fly by too. So, part way through the month, the festive decorating started. Whilst some think anything pre-December is just too early, this year, I decided to go with my heart, and my heart wanted fairy lights. I love the build up to Christmas, but I actually start taking it all down after Boxing Day, in preparation for ‘Spring’. So, I just went with it!
Monty’s Second Christmas
Gorgeous Montgomery took centre-stage on the blog with his hugely popular Doggy Christmas gift list. Can you believe he’s almost been with us a whole year? I really enjoyed creating content for other dog-mommas and the popularity proved that there are lovely Mutt-moms everywhere who want to spoil their fur-baby at Christmas. So, I’m looking forward to writing more pet-centred content in the new year. (Can you believe I just typed ‘new year’?
November also saw my family join me to enjoy an evening at The Green House in Sutton Coldfield. It’s been so long since we gathered to feast somewhere and it felt so good to hold such a meaningful night at this beautiful venue, surrounded by incredible food. Do check out my review, I really hope you like it.
Christmas is Ahead
As I write this Christmas is three weeks away. (I’m picturing the ‘Love Actually’ countdown right now.) It’s so close and if I’m not careful, it will runaway with me and be filled with all preparation and no mindful-enjoyment. Do you find that happens to you? So, I’m planning on making the most of each day and each moment. From enjoying tasty morsels to opening my advent calendar, I’m determined to enjoy every second. Any festive ideas to help me get extra-seasonal? I’d love to hear you suggestions, so please do leave them in the comments below.
